A little of what to expect from the Holiday

Hotelboat Holiday – What to Expect?

Tranquil Rose offers you a choice of relaxing cruises, whether on rivers or canals. Although there’s probably no such thing as a typical day on Tranquil Rose, an example could be:

The day starts with an early morning tea or coffee served in your cabin (or the lounge if you are an early riser) followed by a light or full cooked breakfast at 8.30 am. The skipper will then outline the day ahead and we will set off around 9.00 – 9.30 am. As we cruise, morning tea, coffee and freshly baked biscuits will be served at 11 am in the saloon and open air well deck, and around midday we will usually find a mooring for lunch. Following a light lunch, we will set off once more. Afternoon tea, typically home-made cake with tea or coffee, will sometimes be served on the move, or we may have found a pleasant mooring for the night.

There will be plenty of time for you to go for a stroll, enjoy a pre–dinner drink from the bar, or just relax before dinner is served round our large dining table. Dinner is a relaxed three course meal, for which there is no need to dress up, unless you wish to do so. You are then free to socialise with fellow guests for the evening, maybe play some games or visit a local canal side pub. You can be sure that when you retire to your cabin, you’ll drift off to sleep to the gentle lap of water against the boat, reflecting on the day’s adventures.

During the day you can sit and relax, sketch or take photographs, study the wildlife and the architecture, or read and chat as the countryside unfolds before your eyes. With our knowledge of the waterways, and the maps, guides and books available to you in Tranquil Rose’s informative library, we will ensure that you enjoy your cruises to the full and point out items that may be of interest. If you feel more energetic, you can take a walk along the tow path or lend a hand to the crew at the locks – don’t worry, we have plenty of time to explain how they work!

All our cruises start and finish close to a railway or coach station, enabling guests to join us easily. Our moorings will be at most a short taxi journey from public transport. Joining instructions, which clearly show the location of the boat and transport options, will be sent to you in advance of your journey.
